FOOD RESOURCES

The Senior Center receives donated food items, such as bread and baked goods from Shaw’s Supermarkets, Trader Joe’s and Weinberg’s Bakery.   Donations vary week to week and are limited.  Perishables are fresh, but typically very close to the expiration date.  When you stop by, we ask that you take what you need and can use for the week and check back as needed.

We also receive donations from South Shore Community Action Council, such as pantry and canned goods at the Senior Center.   Stretch Your Food Budget (SYFB) provides Meal Kits that can found at the center or ordered on their website for delivery. Visit https://www.syfb.space/ to place a delivery order or for more information.

Additionally, our Outreach Coordinator can assist with applications for SNAP (formerly food stamps) as needed. Please call 781-925-1239 to make an appointment for assistance in completing a SNAP application.

Wellspring Multi-Service Center, located at 814 Nantasket Avenue in Hull has a food pantry called Aunt Dot’s Kitchen. It is open Mondays, Wednesday & Fridays from 9:30am–11:00am by appointment only.  Transportation to and from the food pantry is available on Mondays and Fridays through Wellspring. Delivery to the homebound can also be arranged. Please call Wellspring’s Director of Food Services at 781-925-3211 x122 to request an appointment, a ride to the food pantry, or to schedule a grocery delivery from the food pantry. Meals on Wheels through South Shore Elder Services

Meals on Wheels is a home delivered meals program designed to provide the right combination of good nutrition and a friendly visitor for people 60+ who may not be able to leave the home, may not have access to food, or may not be able to prepare their own food or manage proper nutrition as they advance in age.  Volunteers deliver meals which are prepared at the meal site.  Individual needs can be short or long-term, including recovering from surgery or an illness or not having the mobility to get to the market.

To inquire about getting services or for more information, call South Shore Elder Services Information and Referral Department directly at 781-848-3910.
