Important Message Regarding Generators

town seal

If National Grid’s power transmission line to the Town fails we have generators in place to provide power for the entire Town.  Please note, if there is a failure it will take about one hour for the back-up generators to come on line.  The process to activate the generators requires a two person Hull Light Line crew perform a series of technical actions at the generators and at the point where the power comes into Town.  Due to the high voltage these actions will take about one hour to perform safely.  Once the switching occurs power will be provided by the generators.  When we are ready to turn the generators off and go back on standard power, the process is much shorter and will only take a few minutes.  We will have line personnel staying at the Light Plant for the duration of the storm to address a Town wide outage or any neighborhood outages as quickly as possible.
