Cinzi Lavin Brief Biography

Born in Manhattan and raised in Texas, Cinzi Lavin wrote On This River (funded in part by a grant from the Massachusetts Cultural Council) about the Weir River Estuary shortly after moving to the banks of the Outer Estuary in Hull in 2007. She serves on the Board of Directors of the Hull Performing Arts.

She began studying piano at the age of five, and was working regularly as a paid performer from the age of 16. Her love of writing and theatre led her to pursue those subjects in her undergraduate and postgraduate study at Texas State University. Her subsequent experience as an actress, musical performer, educator, writer, and composer provided the perfect background for the creation of a musical production that would raise community awareness and showcase the importance of the Weir River Estuary.

Her career highlights include the honor of conducting her own choral and instrumental works as presented by various choirs and musical groups, and a performance by invitation at Madison Square Garden. Her critical essay on the 1934 film, “Bottoms Up,” appears in the recently published book, Spencer Tracy: Fox Film Actor. She is entering her third decade as a piano teacher, working successfully with children, adults, and individuals with special needs.
