Photo Electric Smoke Detectors

Starting April 5th 2010 In all locations where an ionization detector was acceptable, a photoelectric and ionization system must be installed. This can be accomplished by using a single combination photoelectric/ionization devise or by two separate devises that employ each technology. This law applies to battery powered and hardwired devises.

Note: The new regulations apply if: (a) the building is under 70 feet tall; AND (b) Contains less than 6 residential units; AND (c) has not been substantially altered since January 1, 1975.
