Television Production I 5 CREDITS
Course Overview
This course offers the student an introduction to the world of television production. Students will learn about the history and development of television and discuss issues, which have arisen since the invention of television. They will learn basic camera skills as well as television personnel. They will learn the skills necessary and produce a public service announcement, an interview and news broadcast.

· Students will demonstrate knowledge of the history of television
· Students will discuss issue arising from the invention of television
· Students will demonstrate knowledge of equipment used in television production
· Students will demonstrate an understanding of studio personnel
· Students will produce a public service announcement, an interview and news broadcast
Course Content
· History of Television
· Issues & Policies –code of conduct, fair use, copyright, media literacy
· Equipment – cameras, tripods, audio equipment, editing equipment
· Television Personnel – director, floor manager, audio technician, controller, camera person
· Storyboards
· Editing
· News – types of, news broadcasts

Course Evaluation Criteria
· Grading will vary slightly from term to term but will be close to the following breakdown:
30% Tests
10% Homework
30% Class work/participation
30% Projects/Assessments
Course Policies
· Attendance, tardiness, behavioral consequences, academic dishonesty, and make-
up of missing work - As outlined in the Hull High School Student Handbook.
· Courtesy towards your peers and school personnel is expected.
· Students are expected to be in their seats, ready to start when class begins with any
required materials
· Unexcused absence from class (cut)-first offense = detention with teacher, second
offense = cannot achieve a grade higher that a 69, third offense = failure for the term.
· Homework is given as an aid in understanding concepts and skills
presented in class. An assignment that is not finished in class automatically becomes homework.
