Power Point
Lesson 1
Grade 8
Key Concepts
Target your audience—the only way to create an effective presentation is to know your audience—who you are creating the presentation for. Aim your presentation to the viewers’ age and interests.
Working With Your Slides
You can view your slides in many different ways. Normal view lets you see one slide at a time. In this view, you can make changes to the slides content. Slide Sorter View lets you see “thumbnails” of all the slides in a presentation. When you are in the view, you can easily change the order of slides, or add and delete them. Slide Sorter View gives you the “big picture”.
Parts of the Power Point Screen
Let’s locate the title bar, menu bar, standard toolbar, formatting toolbar, slide pane, and status bar (displays information such as the number of the slide you are viewing).
FYI—the Power Point screen is divided into three sections. The Slides and Outline pane is on the left, the Slide Pane is in the middle, and the Task Pane in on the right.
The Standard, Formatting, and Drawing toolbars open automatically when you create a new Power Point presentation.
If you do not see a Screen Tip on screen, select Tools>Options. On the view tab,
click Screen tips.
