- Screen tips—when you point to a button (icon), a “screen tip” appears to show you the name of the button.
- Toolbars—Standard (also called a menu bar)
- Formatting—allows you to change the look of a document. Click on Format in the standard toolbar, click Styles and Formatting—the styles and formatting task pane opens. Click the button again to close the task pane.
- On the menu bar, Click File. The first option in the menu is New.
- Locate the Scroll Bar at the right side of the screen. Practice scrolling up and down in you document. Locate at the bottom of your screen.
- Locate the Status Bar. You should be in Page 1.
- Locate Title Bar. Located at the top in blue of your document.
- Document pane is the entire white space of your document.
- Locate Start Button—show how to log off, restart, and shut down.
- On the menu bar, Click Edit. A list of menu commands appears. The first option in the menu is the Undo Command. Click in the blank area to close the menu.
- Click Tools on the menu bar. Move the pointer to the Language command. The language submenu automatically opens.
- Use Toolbars, Buttons, and Different Views. Move the pointer over the Save button. Read the “Screen Tip” for each button on the Formatting Toolbar.
- Click the Toolbar Options drop-down arrow. The menu displays any buttons that did not fit on the toolbar. Close the menu.
- Locate Next Page and Previous Page—these buttons allow you to scroll through a document.
- Identify parts of a Task Pane. Choose View/Task Pane.
- Click the other Task Panes drop-down arrow. The list of their available task panes appears.
- Locate the back and forward arrows in the Task Pane.
- Click the X to close the task pane.
- Insert Text into a Document. Open a Word Document. Type: Setting goals
- Terms to learn: Paragraph mark, Locate Show/Hide button, space character, and Insertion point
- Click just before the work goals. The insertion point appears where you clicked. Click at the end of the word goals.
- Press the spacebar once. Key: is an important part of obtaining success.
- Click the save button on the Standard Tool Bar. Locate your name and click on it. Find and click on your Technology Folder. Name the document Lesson 2 goals. Double click on the Setting. That is how you select a word. Click anywhere in the text area and that will deselect the word Setting.
- Key: It is really difficult to plan how to reach a final destination if you do not know exactly where you are going.
- Hold down the Ctrl key any where in the first sentence. The entire sentence is selected. Save your file.
