Television Take Back Program
TakeBack Coalition Coordinator, Barbara Kyle has informed the public that Panasonic, Sharp and Toshiba finally announced the launch of a 50-state recycling program by the end of January. This is an improvement over their statement last October that it would take three years for them to offer collection in all 50 states. That makes six TV companies - Sony, Samsung, LG, Panasonic, Sharp, and Toshiba - who are offering national takeback programs.
This is all thanks to efforts by the TakeBack Coalition an other groups and individuals pressuring these companies. Companies like Funai, Vizio, Thomson, Hitachi, JVC, Philips, and Sanyo still need to implement TV recycling programs before the digital conversion deadline on February 17, 2009 and most others still have work to do to improve their TV recycling programs and make them more convenient and responsible.
