General Information
Presently, there are two sessions of the Moderate Integrated Preschool. Both sessions will meet Monday through Thursday. The A.M. session will meet from 8:45a.m. – 11:15a.m. and the P.M. session will meet from 12:00p.m. – 2:30p.m. Evaluations and Team meetings are held on Fridays.
The children with significant disabilities participate in one of two full-time preschool classes, attending Monday through Thursday 8:45a.m. – 11:15 or until 2:30p.m. and on Friday from 8:45 – 11:15a.m. Typically developing peers will attend Monday through Thursday from 8:45a.m. - 11:15a.m.
Drop-off / pick-up will be outside at the side entrance of the L.M. Jacobs Elementary School each day, unless a new area is designated.
For students receiving transportation services: it is recommended that your child be ready at least a half-hour before his / her session begins on the first day of school. After the first day it will be easier to determine the pick-up / drop-off time. Also, students are required to ride in a car seat, which is to be provided, by the parent or guardian.
Please notify both the school and transportation company (if necessary) in writing if someone other than a parent / guardian will be picking up your child from school or the bus stop. Also, please notify the school and transportation company if your child will not be attending school or using transportation services. For your child’s safety, changes to the home pick-up / drop-off spot can only be made through discussion with the Special Education Director. In cases of family emergency a call to the SPED secretary, Mrs. Peters, will facilitate the emergency transportation change.
If an appropriate adult is not available to meet the van, your child will be returned to the Jacobs Elementary School to await your designee’s arrival. Under certain conditions, your child may be brought to the police station. Calls will be made to your home and to the people listed on the emergency card.
If you wish to visit or volunteer please speak with your child’s teacher to set-up a time to do so. Please be sure to sign in at the main office.
If any questions or concerns arise during the school year please do not hesitate to call. The best time to reach teachers is between 8:30 – 8:40a.m and 2:35 – 3:00p.m. If there is any emergency when school is in session and you need to speak with a teacher immediately, please call the front office of the L.M. Jacobs Elementary School – 781-925-4400 and ask for the teacher to be paged.
PLEASE BE SURE TO HAVE YOUR CHILD’S HEALTH FORMS FILLED OUT AND TURNED INTO THE NURSE BY THE FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL. YOUR CHILD WILL NOT BE ABLE TO COME TO SCHOOL WITHOUT THIS INFORMATION.
Each month you will receive a newsletter informing you of class news, themes for the month and any special events or days off.
Please note the half-days on the attached school calendar – P.M. sessions of preschool will not be held on those days and all students with disabilities will be dismissed at 11:15a.m.
Please send in an extra change of clothes (shirt, underwear and socks) for your child that can be kept at school. Students utilizing diapers and / or pull-ups need to provide these as well as wipes. Peers must be potty trained upon entering the program.
We celebrate birthdays in our classrooms as close to the actual date as possible. If you would like to send in a special snack on that day, please let your child’s teacher know.
Discussion of special holidays is incorporated into the curriculum, providing an opportunity for children to learn about different celebrations and traditions. If you have any special holiday traditions or celebrations, please let us know. We would love for you to share them with us.
We will be having a snack time each day. Please send in a snack and drink for this time. Children in the full-time class should also bring daily lunch Monday through Thursday.
If your child has any allergies, please let us know as soon as possible.
Please be sure your child has a backpack or tote bag each day to carry home art projects, notices, etc. Please check it daily so as not to miss any notices.
We follow guidelines set for the Hull Public Schools during inclement weather. Radio announcements will be given as soon as possible, over stations, WJDA, WBZ, WHDH and WRKO. No School Announcements are also carried on TV channels 4, 5, and 7. If school is delayed please be aware that many times preschool is canceled.
