Spelling
Each week the students in our classroom create the spelling list by selecting words that relate to a teacher selected theme. For example, the first week the students will be creating a list based upon the topic-hurricanes. Student will use the dictionary to find a word, to give the proper spelling, the definition, and the part of speech. A list for the week will be created and these are the words that the students will be tested on every Friday.Words are placed into spelling notebooks and words will also be posted on this website. During the week, in class student will be asked to write these words 3X each, place them in abc order, and to create sentences using their spelling words. We also spend classtime reviewing spelling rules, editing skills, and the use of technology to assist with spelling during the writing process.
