FYI:
Writing - emphasis will be on neat, careful
formation of upper and lower case letters
and spacing of words on a line; use of a capital
letter at the beginning of a sentence, on
all names,titles, and for "I"; period or other at the
end of a sentence; 1-1 correspondence
when writing; varied beginning of sentences;
multiple sentences on a topic;
avoid repeating; "stretch it out"

-study spelling words for
test on Friday

to practice spelling)
-practice reading poem/sight phrases
-do "finish and return"
or "correct and return"
if applicable
-read W.E.B. cart book

Math Problem Solving:
How to "Score for Four" when doing
a story or word problem or number story. You
need: illustration 1 pt.
information 1 pt.
number model 1 pt.
answer with a unit label 1 pt.
ex: 2+3=5 balloons
Think - is it a story about things coming
together? + add
is it a story about things being
taken away? - subtract
We ask: How many in all?
How many altogether?
How many are left?
How many now?
A number stamp on each page tells the
points for that number story. A score
of "4" on a single page indicates no errors.

Check for reversals - use your
desk alphabet!
Two or three finger spaces
between your words!
When writing story
sentences, remember our cheer:
"What comes at the beginning?"
"Upper case!" (capital letter)
"What comes at the end?"
"Period!"
"What comes between the words?"
"Two finger spaces"
"What do we need?"
"1-1 correspondence!"
"What do we ask?"
"Does it make sense?"
"What kind of printing?"
"Best!"
"What kind of illustration?"
"Best!"
Remember: Don't be a "Repeat Pete"
Vary the beginning of your
sentences - start with a different
word.
Book Reports:
- read a book of choice or have one read to you
- take a book report sheet from the
book report box
- with best printing, enter your name, date, book
title, author's name, illustrator's name
- write about your favorite part
- draw a picture of your favorite part
- place inside your clear plastic folder -
after receiving a Super Reader stamp -
take and do another
Please check home folder each day for
corrected papers, notes, notices, and
assignments.
