WELCOME TO MRS. GALLAGHER'S ART ROOM!

Kindergarten students have just completed drawings of Artic landscape backgrounds for their cut-paper penguins. The backgrounds were done in oil crayon on light blue paper. We learned a lot about how colors are reflected on snowy, icy surfaces. Now we are now designing "crazy quilts" to be used in a cozy pop-up picture!

Grade 1 students are busy finishing their cut-paper livingrooms. These works actually have wallpaper, furniture, a fireplace and a cat! The next project will be a day/night picture of a cityscape. Students will learn about how colors change in different light.

Grade 2 students are constructing paper plate dinosaurs. This is a very challenging project. A lot of engineering is used to create these dinos! Students will be using "U" braces and 3 different kinds of glue to assemble their works.

Grade 3 students have just finished the Georgia O'Keeffe unit and have created some beautiful giant flower drawings using oil pastels.
We are now ready to start a project about "POP ART" and will be learning about advertising logos.

Grade 4 students are finishing their wonderful "Magic Mandalas". These circular designs are of ancient origin and students created 2 mandalas using ONE triangular unit of asymmetrical design. They learned about the straight trace and the flip/trace method of repeating patterns and the geometric possibilities of circles and triangles in design.

Grade 5 students have just about finished their amazing papier mache' gekkos!! We are now working on drawings based on the legend of the Phoenix Bird. These designs will be done in black sharpie, colored pencil, cut-paper and paint.
