3. Can my child buy milk to eat with snack?
No, the cafeteria is not open for service when it is snack time in the classroom.
4. What are the options to pay for the milk/lunch? Do I have to send exact change?
It is most convenient to have exact change. Otherwise, payment in advance by check is
recommended if your child buys a lunch or milk frequently. The amount of the payment
will be stored in a database for your child and deducted from his/her account each time
a purchase is made.
5. Do I believe my child when s/he tells me "everyone" buys their lunch as I pack his/her lunch each day?
Not all children buy lunch. Some children bring a lunch from home every day.
6. How is milk/lunch money handled? Does my child give the money to the teacher or directly to the lunch server?
Each child pays money to lunch staff at lunch time (or has money deducted from his/her
balance,.
7. In winter do the children wear boots and bring shoes to change into?
It is advisable for students to change out of their boots and into sneakers. They must wear their sneakers in the gym.
8. Can I bring some type of cupcakes/cake for my child's birthday?
Edible treats are not allowed for birthday celebrations. You may, however bring in something like stickers, erasers, pencils, or something to that extent for each child in the class! We have 20 students in our class.
9. How do I get in touch with the other children in the class if I want to invite them to a party?
Each teacher has his/her own system of helping parents get in touch with other
families for birthday parties. Please check with your child's classroom teacher.
10. What is the most effective way to communicate with the teacher - e-mail, note or phone?
A note or email is the most effective method of communication. If school is in session,
a phone call to your teacher's extension number can deposit a message.
11. If it is by phone, do I call during the day and leave a message or wait until after hours?
By phone, leave a voice message to your child's teacher's mailbox if it is not urgent.
12. On early release days do the students need two snacks?
Some teachers only require a daily snack. Since kindergartners eat lunch at 10:30 on early release days, a snack time is not provided.
