The ABC's of Kindergarten
Absence notes-Send in a note or call the office at absentee line at 781-925-4398 if your child is absent.
Arrival-Buses arrive at school at 8:25.
Backpacks-Backpacks are needed to transport work and notices to and from school daily.
Boots-If children wear boots to school, please send shoes for them to change into at school.
Box Tops for Education-We collect "Box Tops for Education". Start saving!
Breakfast-The cost of breakfast is $1.50;reduced is .30.
Bus changes-Bus changes require a note to be given to and approved by the office.
Computers-We work with computers in the classroom daily.
Dismissal-Children are dismissed at 2:55.
Donations-Kleenex & "wipes" are out 2 most needed donations.
Emergency cards-Emergency cards are filled out in September and kept on file in the nurse's office.
Field trips-We go to the Hull Public Library and on a second trip to be decided in the spring.
Fire drills-We have a fire drill during the first week of the school year as well as a second drill later in the year.
Guests-Guests are welcome. Let us know if you are interested in visisting. A CORI is needed.
Hair-Please check your child's hair for head lice to prevent the spread of head lice in the classroom and inform the school if lice is found.

Illness-If your child is absent, please call the absentee hotline and provide a note upon your child's return.
Information-Mrs. Penta's weekly "blue notes" provide general announcements each Thursday.

Label-Please label EVERYTHING!-bachpacks, art shirts, lunch boxes...
Library books-Library books are taken home each week. Children may not take out another book until the previous week's book is returned.
Literacy based-We emphasize literacy in our curriculum-reading, writing & oral language.
Literacy-program We use "Scholastic Literacy Place' as our literacy program along with Guided Reading.
Lunch money-The cost of lunch is $2.75; reduced .40.
Math program-We use "Everyday Math" as our math series.
Milk- The cost of milk is .50.
Newsletters-Newsletters are sent home periodically.
Open House-Open House is held each fall.
Outside-We go outside "weather permitting" once or twice a day.
Parent conferences-Parent conferences are held in the fall and the spring.
Questions-We can answer your questions by phone calls, writing notes, or e-mail.
Read alouds- Children are read to daily at "storytime". We encourage parents to read to their children at home daily as well.
Readiness-We "color, cut, and paste" daily.
Reading-We begin to introduce the children to reading the through the use of phonics (sounds of letters) and "sight words".
Report cards-Report cards are sent home quarterly.
Science program-We use the Scott Foresman science program.
Self-help skills-Buttoning, zippering, snapping, and tieing are good skills to practice at home.
Snacks-We have a morning and an afternoon snack each day (please include a drink for the morning snack).
Toys-Children are not allowed to bring toys to school.
Unique-Kindergarten and kindergarteners are "unique".
Volunteers-Parent volunteers are welcome to help out in the classroom from 9 to 11 a.m. All volunteers need to complete a ".CORI" paper.

X-tra clothes-Please provide an extra clothing in case of a "bathroom accident".
You-Parents are their child's first and most important teacher.
ZZZZZ........-The kindergarten day is long and busy. A good night's sleep is needed by all children.
