It is vital that you complete the summer reading assignments.  If you fail to complete the summer reading assignments, I will ask that you leave the class immediately.

DBQ’s or Document Based Questions-Essays and AP Level Reading
Attached here are guidelines for writing a Document Based Essay, an example of a well-written essay, and two articles that provide general study skills and tips for reading and writing. Adhere to these guidelines in your preparation throughout the course. Additionally, here are some formatting requirements for your essays.

  • All essays must be typed and labeled appropriately
  • Type should be 12pt times New Roman Font
  • Essays should be double spaced
  • Your name should appear along the top right hand corner with each page of the document (ex: Galligan, 1----Galligan, 2----Galligan, 3)
  • Each essay should follow the pattern of the example included here (5 paragraph format) Remember—these are timed essays on the actual test. You have 1 hour to write the DBQ—it would be helpful to time yourself on this assignment as well.
