The Hull Fire Department’s Citizen Fire Academy is a program available to the residents of the Town of Hull, who would like to learn more about the activities associated with the department. It is our desire to educate the citizens in regards to long-term safety for our community. The members will demonstrate the daily operations that occur at the Hull Fire Department and how, as a citizen of the community you can assist and play a valuable role in regards to Fire Safety & Rescue Intervention.
Fire Department members are highly committed to the citizens served, and we are determined to educate the people in injury and Fire Prevention, and the many services provided by the Hull Fire Department..
The Academy involves three hours per week for six weeks consisting of the following class room and hands on topics:
· Fire Department History
· Administration of the Fire Department
· Tour of our Station
· Fire Behavior/Ladders
· Tour of E-911 Dispatch Center
· Hiring Process for FF/Paramedics
· Fire Engines/Ambulance Familiarization
· Hazardous Materials Overview
· Emergency Medical Services
· Protective Clothing
· Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus
· Search and Rescue Demonstration
· Vehicle Extrication
· Fire Hoses and Ventilation
· Fire prevention and Code Enforcement
· Fire safety Education/ CPR Training
· Portable Fire Extinguishers
· Incident Command System
· Ride Along with Command
· New Alumni Association
WHEN: The Academy will be offered in the fall and will meet one evening for six weeks.The training will be offered on Mondays beginning October 26th, from 6:30 p.m. - 9:30 p.m. A Saturday session will culminate the Citizens Fire Academy with a live fire drill.
WHERE: The Academy will meet at the Exhibition Room at the Hull High School for all classroom topics. The hands-on training locations will be determined.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Recruits must be at least 18 years of age, and live in the Town of Hull to attend this program.
